The Hokkaido-Inu is a native Japanese dog breed. Because the Ainu people (the indigenous people of Hokkaido) bred the dog to use for hunting bears and deer, the breed has also been known as "the Ainu-Ken (Ainu Dog)."

Here is a picture of RAMAT(left), SIKO(center), and PIRKA(right) in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
SIKO was very pleased to have her own special handmade collar from Hokkaido like her mom and dad.
They did a "sit stay" for 5 or 10 minutes while they were getting their picture taken.

Hokkaido-Inu RAMAT SETA Karuizawa Message from the director;

My American friend, Bob Simmons, from Boulder, Colorado, USA got an Ainu Dog (red male puppy named RAMAT) from me and went home on August 12, 2001. He was proud to become a member of a preservation society of the Hokkaido-Inu during a signing ceremony at the SETA PALACE (in Takasaki, Gunma) while he was here. Here we are pictured with our puppies, RAMAT and SETA in Karuizawa, Nagano.
